History of the Hotel

The Hotel Soldanella has a tradition of over 100 years of hospitality. It was built in 1902 only with the aim of making hotel guests coming to the  Engadine
feel at home. Jules Calonder from Trin (Bündner Oberland) was an experienced confectioner who returned to Graubünden in 1880 after
years of working in France and settled down in Pontresina. He then built the hotel and opened it in 1905 and called it the Hotel Calonder.
Jules Calonder ran his hotel until his death together with his daughter Anna and her husband Bernhard Tratschin-Calonder. After his death they took over the hotel
and in 1929 their son Hanspeter Tratschin continued to manage the hotel.

In 1972 the local hotelier Erwin Degiacomi bought the hotel and renamed it Hotel Soldanella.
Now the second generation, the sons of Erwin Degiacomi - Urs and Enrico are in charge.
